Having previously announced the successful training of eco guides in Arugum Bay, Sewalanka is delighted to further report that the Arugam Bay eco tourism initiative has just been recognised for an award at the World Travel Market, international tourism conference.

The Responsible Tourism Awards are organised by the online travel agent responsibletravel.com and are the largest and most comprehensive awards of their kind in the world, attracting over 1700 nominations this year. The awards ceremony will be held in London in November as part of the World Travel Market. The Arugum Bay eco guides project which was conducted in association with the Sri Lankan Ecotourism Foundation and Italian aid has been recognised under the best destination category.

Sewalanka Foundation has been asked to send a representative who will travel along with the president of the Arugum Bay Eco guides to London and represent Sri Lanka at the Travel Market which is the worlds largest travel related exhibition.
