Government figures indicate that 59,723 individuals from 51 shelter camps across six secretariat divisions have returned to their homes in Muttur Town.
These figures come as a result of action undertaken by the Government at the beginning of September to provide transport to community members wishing to return to their homes.
Sewalanka staff are currently completing an assessment in and around Muttur Town to prioritise the needs of IDPs and identify gaps in aid distribution.
Reports will be provided to the District Secretariat to assist with calls by the Government for a coordinated approach to the ongoing humanitarian effort.
