How's the money spent? Individual donations are collectively pooled together and the Sewalanka Coordination Team for the Appeal Fund (Sewalanka Foundation head office staff ) reviews the progress of on-going micro-projects and assesses all new micro-project applications received from our District Directors across the country. The Coordination Team's task is then to select a range of micro-project activities, covering emergency relief projects as well as general projects in the north, east and south of the country, within the total Appeal Fund available at that time.

Is my money going to be used correctly? It is the responsibility of each District Director to account for funds received. Funds are monitored from head office and no other money is released from the Sewalanka Foundation Appeal until accounts for finished projects are settled in full. The funds have been decentralised as it is easier and faster for our District Officers to source local products rather than Head Office purchasing and distributing these goods from Colombo .

Medium to Large International Donations (>SLRs.150,000)

Sewalanka Foundation welcomes direct approaches from businesses, individuals or groups who have raised funds of approximately SLRs.150,000 or more for a specific micro-project.

How is your money spent? Contact Sewalanka Foundation to discuss if you have specific geographic (ie. North, East, South) focus or target areas like emergency relief, fishing boats, schools or temporary shelter. Sewalanka Foundation will make every effort to accommodate these requirements.

Is it transparent? It is the responsibility of each district director to account for funds received. Funds are monitored from head office and no other money is released from the Sewalanka Foundation Appeal until accounts for finished projects are settled in full. At the end of the project the district director provides a breakdown of how money was spent, which is placed on this site as part of the final report. The funds have been decentralised as it is easier and faster for our district officers to source local products rather than Head Office purchasing and distributing these goods from Colombo .
