A temporary home for a woman and her son in Kanthale, Trincomalee

The number of people displaced since April 2006 now stands at 204,602* as fighting between government forces and the LTTE continues in the north and northeast of Sri Lanka.

Sewalanka staff in Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Jaffna and Kilinochchi have spent the past month working to provide much needed relief to displaced communities.

To date relief has included the construction of temporary shelters, the distribution of food and non-food items and establishing water and sanitation facilities in temporary camps.
