Sewalanka Foundation employee killed in Hikkaduwa bus bomb

Sewalanka Foundation has confirmed the death of a staff member who was travelling on a passenger bus which was blown up in a bomb attack on Saturday, 6 January. The explosion, which occured near Hikkaduwa, killed 11 and wounded 40.  

The victim, twenty-three year old YK Lakmalie Niroshnie, held the position of Book Keeper at Sewalanka’s Matara office and had been a committed member of staff for just over one-and-a-half years. An enthusiastic and hardworking employee, Ms Niroshnie will be remembered for her pleasant manner.

Sewalanka Foundation entirely condemns such shocking acts of terrorism aimed at innocent civilians.

The Chairman and all staff members of Sewalanka Foundation wish to convey their sincere condolences to the family members of the deceased, and for the other victims of the attack and their families.
