Immediate District Development Objectives
Sewalanka Foundation Batticaloa is working to achieve the following immediate development objectives by December 2005:
To resettle / relocate and initiate livelihood recovery with 1,500 tsunami affected families
The development of 30 Stage 0+ CBO partners, 10 Stage 1+ CBO partners and 08 Stage 2+ CBO partners
A CBO micro-credit programme with a capital value in excess of Rs 5,000,000
A District Credit Fund with a capital value in excess of Rs 10,000,000
To support an annual mangrove replanting programme in Batticaloa Lagoon



Long-term District Development Objectives

Sewalanka Foundation Batticaloa is working to achieve the following long-term development objectives by December 2007:

To develop two CBO Federations

To promote a community-based co-management mechanism, including ecotourism, in Batticaloa Lagoon.
